Ricardo Baca and Andrew Matranga, The Cannabist Show March 22, 2016

After a truly educational week Spring Interterm session of #CannabisJournalism, I was able to sit in with Ricardo Baca of the Denver Post on his Cannabist Show and talk about my recent experiences teaching this class and about his evolution on the marijuana beat.

With the launch of the documentary Rolling Papers, there was a perfect entry point for the class to wrap their heads around the current events that are shaping Colorado’s culture, policy and position in the world’s greatest social science experiment still in progress.

Watch the whole interview on The Cannabist site.

Day three. What a whirlwind already. Three guests, one documentary viewing, one group field trip (holler @bruvs and @vinniechant!) and five students overwhelmed by an industry.that’s taking over Colorado (and their Spring Break).

Today we meet with Representative Jonathan Singer of House District 11, and get his take on Cannabis Legislation in Colorado. Then we’ll be remote editing on our third Medium post and our final project. And of course all of the action is on the #CannabisJournalism hashtag.

Welcome to day two, or Tuesday, of #CannabisJournalism. In the morning will be meeting with Josiah Hesse of The Denver Post and The Guardian, among other news outlets, and then in the afternoon with Susannah Grossman of Verdant Communications, the shop that runs public relations for Women Grow, a leading female-focused cannabis industry group. In the evening, we will sit in during a taping of Ricardo Baca’s Cannabist Show at the Denver Post. It’s going to be a homerun type day, so strap in and let’s do some learning.

Here are the slides for Tuesday.
